saturday sweetness

I figured I'd skip Zumba this morning to stay home, make round 2 of the infamous banana-chocolate chip pancakes, and get a quick blog in before beginning our Saturday. Maybe if I type really, really fast while jogging in place I can burn a fraction of the 500+ calories I'd be sweating out if I had actually made it to the gym. One can always hope.

Kiel was extremely grateful for all the laundry, bed making, food preparing, designated driving, and shopping I had done to get ready for our house full of boys last weekend so he wanted to take me on a fancy date night on Monday to thank me. The location was up to me, which pretty much equals bad.news.bears. Have I mentioned I'm a fat kid through and through? We went to Palazzo Giuseppe for plate after plate of delectable Italian tapas; eggplant parm lasagna, spinach ricotta gnocchi, prosciutto-wrapped prawns...enough to feed a small army. One slight glance out the window at Koberl at Blue and my heart was set on desert: their famous chocolate lava cake. So yes, we went on a restaurant crawl- paying our tab at one restaurant and sauntering our stuffed selves to another! Let's just say we were very appreciative of the 25-minute bake time for the molten cake! Now do you see where my guilt is coming from for skipping my workout this morning?

Oh, and then we receive this little gem in the mail from my grandparents for Kiel's birthday. Yes, the card and little plane are cute- but let's set our focus on the true star of this shot- the Stowaway Sweets chocolate box! This little confectioner outside of Boston makes THE most incredible chocolate mousse truffles in the entire world, and a pound of said goodies arrived on our doorstep. I wish I could show you a picture, but unfortunately they are all gone. Yes, in the course of 5 days... I am so ashamed. On second thought, maybe I'll hit the gym with Kiel when he goes this afternoon.

The high cost of living in downtown SLO is completely worth it to us, especially when I can ride my bike home from Farmer's on Thursday evenings, the scent of fresh basil and cilantro wafting from my basket

The fact it's the most beautiful place I've ever been doesn't hurt, either.

Friday lunch date with Daddy at High Street Deli...

Followed by a fun playdate with our neighbor Frankie... what a life Miss Pepper leads, eh?

This picture just cracks me up! Looks like someone got a little worn out!
I'm sorry, but is this NOT the cutest little fur munchkin you have ever laid eyes on? She is the sweetest thing too. We're so lucky that both sets of our neighbors are not only great friends for US, but they also have sweet fur friends for Pep!

Friday night Concerts in the Mission Plaza=love. Pack a picnic, grab some ice cold Firestone brew, and listen to local bands rock out for FREE?! Sign me up.

Andersen, party of 3. I really wish I had snapped a shot of the sweet Harings, Lindsey's teeny baby bump is so ridiculously adorable! Sadly, I think I made her hold my beer while I took this picture...because we're classy like that.

Well, there's the past few days in a nutshell, folks. I plan on spending the rest of my Saturday at the beach and then later snuggling up at the drive-in to watch The Other Guys and Salt. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend...xoxo.

I think you showed amazing restraint. I would have killed the whole box of chocolates in half that time. Ah ha ha!
