Happy Birthday, Future Hubby!

How many of you are familiar with Facebook? If you are, you'll know what writing on someone's wall is...and how common it is to get over 100 "wall notes" on your birthday from friends who log on and see the alert that it's your special day. Well, on July 20th four years ago, that's what happened. And this is what I wrote on Kiel's wall:

"Just wanted to wish my future hubby a very happy birthday..."

Now, let's recap: in July of 2006, I had a boyfriend who was NOT Kiel V. Andersen- and I hadn't even met Kiel at this point- but wrote this as a complete joke. The mutual friend who "introduced" us (via Facebook, no less) used to call Kiel my "future hubby" whenever she referenced him, and was met with my rolling eyes. So on his birthday, when I wanted to wish him well, I used that funny little term of endearment, having NO idea how true that was. Four months later, we started dating. Fourteen months later, we got engaged. One year later, we got married. And now, 18 1/2 months after that, I'm wishing my hubby a very happy birthday.

I left bright and early to get Kiel donuts to bring with him to work, but once he arrived and started passing them out, he was told to go home and just "call in sick"! Talk about an amazing place to work, eh? So the birthday boy came home, ate a few donuts in bed, and snuggled in for a lovely mid-morning nap which had us waking after NOON! Modeling the new Bay Area Blanket I made... which will come in handy while watching the games on chilly nights!Enjoying a few hours on the beach- the BEST way to play hooky in my opinion!I took a page out of Meredith's book and tried making the framed football chalkboard. I bought the biggest mirror I could find and still had trouble fitting all 13 games on there!Oh, and the asterisk next to the November 6th game against Arizona State? He now has 4 tickets to that game, courtesy of moi and the Robinsons. When I asked Kiel where he wanted to go out for his birthday dinner, I wasn't surprised in the least that he said In-N-Out. Yes, we will drive 17 miles for some animal style!!!I decided against bringing the cake with us, so Kiel enjoyed it at home with shots of Jameson. Four, to be exact. That boy is trying to turn himself Irish.

All in all, Kiel had an awesome day and we're so looking forward to his fun party weekend with friends from out of town in August. Trying to coordinate the schedules of an attorney, a law student, and an engineer has proved a daunting task but we think we have the perfect weekend to look forward to!

Happy birthday, future hubby.

It was written in the stars all along! I remember the first time I was going to meet you when you flew out to help Kiel drive clear across country. Kiel told me "Mom, you are about to meet your future daughter-in-law! Something bigger than you two was already working to bring you together! Kiel's birthday celebration sounds perfect! Thank you for making it so special for him!
